Swami Vivekananda Scholarship 2024:
West Bengal has a distinguished history in India’s educational landscape. To support meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, the Government of West Bengal has initiated various scholarship programs across different levels of higher education within the institutions of the state.
One such program is the Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-means (SVMCM) Scholarship, also known as the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship. This government initiative provides financial assistance to deserving students, enabling them to pursue higher education. The Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme was comprehensively restructured in 2016 to include a larger number of students and significantly increase the scholarship amounts.

About the Scheme:
To support meritorious students in West Bengal whose annual family income does not exceed Rs. 2,50,000/-, SVMCM offer scholarships for pursuing higher education. These scholarships are available at various levels of higher studies and are applicable to educational institutions based in West Bengal. All the processes are online mode, no need to submit the Hard copy.
Which courses are eligible for the SVMCM Scholarship?
The scholarship covers a wide range of courses, ensuring that students from various educational backgrounds can benefit from this program. The supported courses include Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Medical, and other professional courses. This broad spectrum of covered disciplines reflects the scholarship’s commitment to enabling students to pursue their chosen field of study.

Swami Vivekananda Scholarship: Eligibility Criteria and Scholarship Amount
Applicants should meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the SVMCM scholarship.
The annual income of the family should be less than Rs. 2,50,000/- (Income certificate)
Students must be residents of West Bengal and must have done education in West Bengal state only
Applicants should not be getting/applying for any other government scholarships.
Imp: As the payment will be made by direct beneficiary transfer only, furnishing of Bank details of the applicant, i.e. A/C No., Bank Name, IFS Code of Bank is mandatory.

Swami Vivekananda Merit-Cum-Means Scholarship: Means Judging Criteria
The total family income for the applicant must not exceed Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum. Any intentional false in income documents, if discovered at any stage, will be treated as a serious offense following actions:
- Immediate and compulsory refund of the scholarship amount already received.
- Permanent Cancellation of the Right to Apply for any governmental scholarship in the future.
- Potential legal penalties under relevant laws in force.
Post Matric (HS) Level
The annual income of the family should be less than Rs. 2,50,000/-.
To be considered for the scholarship, students must achieve at least 60% aggregate marks in the Madhyamik Pariksha.
The total marks will be calculated excluding the pass marks in any additional subjects. Only candidates who have completed their Madhyamik Pariksha under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education are eligible to apply. Students from other boards are not eligible for this scholarship.
Diploma Courses (Polytechnic) Level:
Students who have passed the Secondary (M.P.) Examination or its equivalent in 2022 and are enrolled in the first year of Diploma (Polytechnic) courses are eligible to apply.
This includes those enrolled in H.S. Examination or its equivalent for Diploma in
1-Pharmacy, 2-Modern Office Practice & Management, and 3)- 3-D Animations & Graphics, which are of 2-year duration.
Additionally, students who have passed the H.S./equivalent Examination or ITI (2 years) and are enrolled in the second year of Diploma (Polytechnic) courses on a lateral entry basis are also eligible. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination, excluding marks secured in optional elective subjects, if any.
The Diploma (Polytechnic) courses must be approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), or Council of Architecture (CoA), and affiliated with the West Bengal State Council of Technical & Vocational Education & Skill Development (WBSCT&VE&SD).
UG College Level:
Minimum qualifying marks of 60% in aggregate in the H.S. Examination conducted by the W.B. Council of H.S. Education/Madrasha Siksha Parishad.
Separate merit lists for UG (Arts), UG (Commerce), and UG (Science) courses.
PG University Level:
Candidates must be graduates with at least 53% marks in their Honours subject at the graduation level (55% marks for applicants under DTE). The marks obtained in the Honours subject will be the sole academic criterion for awarding PG-level scholarships.
Kanyashree recipients (K-2) (whether married or unmarried), who are pursuing Post Graduate courses in Science, Arts, and Commerce streams from universities in West Bengal, and who have obtained an Undergraduate Degree with 45% aggregate marks from institutions in the state, are eligible for this Scholarship Scheme.
Kanyashree students applying for the K-3 scholarship under the Swami Vivekananda Merit–cum–Means Scholarship Scheme do not need to submit an Income Certificate or Income Affidavit.
Research Level:
Financial assistance is available for non-NET and NET-LS candidates who are full-time M.Phil. or Ph.D. research scholars as of 01/04/2017 or later. This support starts from 01/04/2017 and continues until the submission of the dissertation, with a maximum duration of two years for M.Phil. and four years for Ph.D.
NET-LS scholars will stop receiving financial assistance once they are appointed as teachers. It is their responsibility to inform the university authorities about their appointment, who will then notify the relevant department immediately.
