OPSC ASO SYLLABUS: Exam

]Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) conduct an examination for the post of Assistant Section Officer(ASO). It is a Group B post in the Odisha Secretariat under the Home Department.

The eligibility criteria for the post of Assistant Section Officer (ASO) in the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) for 2024 include age limit, educational qualification, and computer application knowledge:

  • Age limit: Candidates must be between 21 and 32 years old. However, there is an upper age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/SEBC and 10 years for women and people with disabilities.
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from a UGC-recognized university in any discipline. They must also be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking Odia.
  • Computer application knowledge: Candidates must have adequate knowledge of computer applications. 

The grade pay for an Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) Assistant Section Officer (ASO) is Rs 4,200 per month with a pay scale of Rs 9,400–34,800 per month. In addition to this, ASOs are also eligible to get allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance (TA).

The examination for the ASO service shall consist of the following subjects carrying marks as shown against each:

(1) The candidate shall answer the question papers in English unless otherwise directed.
(2) Only those candidates who have been short-listed after the written test shall be called for the Skill Test in Computer, which shall be qualifying.

ESSAY
There will be two Essays, one each in English and Odia.

  1. The test on each subject shall be of one-hour duration.
  2. The questions shall be of multiple choice type. All the questions shall be compulsory without any negative marking.

These 2012-13, 20218-19 & 2021-22 Year’s PYQ are available. All subjects including English & Odia, General Awareness, Reasoning and Mental ability are available.

Candidates who are going to appear for the OPSC ASO 2024 Exam must first clear the written examination phase on the OPSC ASO Exam 2024.

  • The candidates who once qualify the written examination phase will be called for the certificate verification round, where candidates have to produce the original documents in justify the authenticity of the certificates made by them during the application process as per the last recruitment.
  • After qualifying in this round, short-listed candidates will be called for the Skill Test in Computer Application.
  • Skill tests will be qualifying in nature.

Moreover, the selection of candidates and allotment of them to respective services/departments will be in the order of the vacancies available and rank secured.

There are no dates confirmed officially, still, you can expect by December 2024.

The expected Pay scale of Rs 9,400–34,800 per month, in-hand it may vary from 45K-50K.
